Sunshine Coast Libraries to re-open on 25th May

Sunshine Coast Council Libraries will re-open doors to a limited number of customers at any one time from Monday May 25, 2020 following the further easing of COVID-19 restrictions.

Sunshine Coast Council Mayor and Local Disaster Management Group Chair Mark Jamieson said the safety of our community and staff continued to be at the forefront of decisions made by council.

“Libraries are a valuable and much-loved community service and council has been working through the implications of re-opening them to the public as soon as practical, in line with the national public health directions and the progressive easing of restrictions,” Mayor Jamieson said.

“When our libraries re-open on May 25, a total of 10 customers will be permitted inside our library branches at any one time. They’ll be able to pick up reservations, choose and borrow library items.

“Visitor numbers in the library will be monitored and customers will be required to comply with social distancing requirements and other measures.

“The library Click & Collect service remains available for Sunshine Coast library card holders, and the community is reminded to make use of the library’s extensive online programs and eLibrary service.

“One exception to the re-opening on May 25 will be the Maleny Library, which is currently undergoing refurbishment and will not re-open until next month (June, 2020). A limited Click and Collect service will be available at that location.

“We look forward to welcoming customers back to our libraries, but remind everyone to please be vigilant as we keep moving towards a COVID-safe society.

“This includes adhering to social distancing requirements, good hygiene and not attending if you are feeling unwell.”

Returns chutes are available at all libraries and Wi-Fi remains available.
