Book Week celebrations popping up at Stockland Caloundra

To celebrate Book Week 2019 Stockland Caloundra has once again partnered with Sunshine Coast Libraries and their First 5 Forever program to host children’s pop-up library and Babycino Book Club event.

Book Week 2019 will take place from 17th to 23rd of August and Stockland Caloundra is inviting customers to come along and enjoy several free events.

On Tuesday 20 August in the centre court’s X the pop-up library will provide a dedicated space for children and parents to take a break from shopping, to read and enjoy play based learning with a range of books, costumes and educational resources.

Then on Thursday 22 August The Coffee Club will be hosting a first of its kind, a Babycino Book Club. This free event will includes a Babycino station for children to decorate their very own babycino with all the delicious and creative trimmings. Plus kids can collect a free book to take home and keep thanks to Sunshine Coast Libraries. This event has been so popular all the spaces have now been booked up!

Shane Monro, Centre Manager at Stockland Caloundra said the fun-filled pop-up library will be a great resource for parents looking to entertain their little ones while out and about.

“We are very excited to again be working with Sunshine Coast Libraries to host Book Week 2019 events at Stockland Caloundra. The pop-up library is based on the Sunshine Coast Libraries’ First Five Forever program and will help parents entertain young children by providing them with a fun and engaging educational experience,” he said.

The First 5 Forever program is a family literacy program that aims at creating stronger language and literacy environments for Queensland children before they start kindergarten or school. Delivered by public libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres, the program’s weekly sessions are designed for parents to participate with their children and encourage learning through talking, reading, singing and playing.

Sunshine Coast Library staff will be visiting the Centre to promote the First 5 Forever initiative, and offering free take-home toolkits and join members to the library.
