Experts in boys’ education
Moreton Bay Boys’ College offers everything a quality education should. Nestled in bush land on Brisbane’s bayside, with smaller classes for greater individual attention and offering an innovative, globally inspired curriculum tailored to the way boys learn. We are proud to be an accredited IB World School across our Primary and Middle years. Our staff are specialists in educating boys.
Two Colleges – one solution for families
Together with our sister school Moreton Bay College, we now can offer a premium education solution for families across the bayside and beyond. Founded on Uniting Church Christian values and united under the leadership of Executive Principal Mr James Sloman, our school philosophies and policies are aligned. Heads of College on each campus manage the day-to-day business of each school. “We are committed to single sex education at each school but our partnership provides co-curricular opportunities for our boys and girls to develop their social skills. Together we are stronger.” Commented Mr Sloman.
Head of College
Head of College at MBBC, Mr Tony Wood says “We have the most beautiful campus with open spaces in a delightful, natural environment. The boys are eager, confident, willing and supportive of one another. I was thrilled with the senior’s results last year and that most of our boys were offered their first choice or second of University. Our NAPLAN results showed our boys were well above the national benchmark with our Year 9’s the most improved in the local area. As a young school there is an adventurous spirit that sees enthusiastic and hardworking staff willing to take on new ideas and be innovative in their teaching.”
Mr Sloman and Mr Wood look forward to welcoming you to our Open Day to take a closer look at the college, join our senior students for a tour, meet our dynamic staff and friendly families and experience for yourself the vibrancy and spirit of Moreton Bay Boys’ College. Please contact the school to find out about Open Day dates.
Facilities and Grounds
MBBC boasts large open spaces in which boys can play, learn, research and explore. Our beautiful campus is located in bush land on Brisbane’s Eastern bayside backing onto a nature reserve and overlooking the glorious Moreton Bay. We have a large multi-purpose hall marked for volleyball, basketball, dodge ball and training, a weights room, two full sized tennis courts and an additional outdoor basketball court. We have a large oval with soccer and cricket nets, a cross country circuit, shot put, long jump and discus spaces. We also have swimming lessons and carnivals in the nearby 50 metre pool at Moreton Bay College. We have a full sized chess board in the middle school area that our boys vie to use.
A World Class Education
As an International Baccalaureate World school, Moreton Bay Boys’ College offers the great benefits of an internationally benchmarked approach to education. Our globally- focused syllabus helps boys connect with the world around – managing, constructing and deconstructing knowledge and applying it to different contexts and experiences.
Junior school (Prep - Year 6)
Junior School is a springboard for the mastering of concepts and processes of the curriculum. In fostering a positive attitude to learning at this early stage of schooling, we aim to create an eagerness that will assist their development and achievement in later school and adult years.
Middle School (Years 7 - 9)
Middle School demonstrates the rigor and types of assessment tasks to be expected of them at a Senior level. Importantly, the Middle Years program takes into account the significant physical, social and personal changes in their growth.
Senior school (Years 10 - 12)
Senior School offers multiple pathways for students to better realise their individual post school destinations. Boys also continue their journey of focusing on Christian values, personal development, social skills and health education.
Senior Student Destinations
100% of the MBBC 2014 Year 12s who made a QTAC application for a tertiary place received a place. Each of our OP students received an OP rank of 1-10. 22.2% of these fell into the 1-5 category.
