Profile: Calvary Christian College

Calvery College has Mini Open Day – Principal’s Tours throughout the year. Please see our website www.calvarycc.qld.edu.au – for dates to attend any of these events to find out more about our College.

We are attached to the Logan Uniting Church and our vision is that the lives of young people will be transformed through quality education and Christian discipleship to equip them for life in a changing world. In so doing our prayer is that our students will become responsible citizens in our global community with the desire to serve and influence others for God and for good.

As a Junior School only with an attached Creche and Kindergarten, the community is one of young families enjoying their first few years of school attendance. The upper primary students are the leaders in the school and they look forward to the day they can move down to the larger Carbrook Campus and begin their Middle Years journey. The connections to Carbrook are strong with some staff working on both campuses and the students attending whole school events at Carbrook Campus.

The commitment to young children is apparent in the well-resourced facilities, beautiful play equipment, fully air-conditioned buildings and large playing fields.

The Springwood Campus has various special events throughout the year including: Excursions, Grandparents’ Day, Book Fair, Swimming Lessons and Carnival, Fun Run and Cross Country.

Kingdom Kids

Kingdom Kids Early Learning Centre is an approved Short and Long Day Care service fully owned and operated by Calvary Christian College. It operates on the Carbrook Campus, caters for children from 15 months to 5 years.  It comes under the structure of the College and therefore upholds its stated Vision, Mission Statement and Core Values as outlined in the College Strategic Plan.  The centre also offers before and after hours school care.  Our new and modern air-conditioned facilities also offer an exciting outdoor play area which includes a mud pit.

Junior School

Whilst being part of a larger campus, the Junior School enjoys its own distinct environment. All of the younger students (Prep to Year Two) are located in an Early Learning Precinct adjacent to Kingdom Kids and the C&K. This provides children in Prep to Year Two with their own playgrounds and space to enjoy with others of a similar age. The older Junior School students enjoy the use of their own playground as well as specialised facilities such as sporting ovals, basketball courts, library, Performing Arts Centre and IT centre that come with being part of a P-12 environment.

Middle School

With only four classes per year level, Calvary is small enough to know and care for students individually, yet large enough to offer an extensive range of academic and co-curricular opportunities.

They recognise that the Middle School years are important times of transition between childhood and young adulthood and hence we have a distinctive pastoral care and academic approach designed to build confidence and create a secure learning environment.

Our curriculum is a gradual process of academic specialisation across the three years of Middle School. Student are taught by a single classroom teacher supported by specialist teachers in Year Seven and progressively through Years Eight and Nine are offered more individual subjects and teachers.

Senior School

The Senior School of Calvary Christian College encompasses Years Ten, Eleven and Twelve, some 280 students with four classes in each year level.

Calvary Christian College offers over thirty subjects to Year Eleven and Twelve students, access to university and distance education subjects, TAFE partnership programs, school-based traineeships and apprenticeships, work experience and work placement as we seek to cater for the range of ambitions of the students in our community.

In Year Ten students continue their elective studies from Year Nine and begin to specialise more in the Sciences and Mathematics in preparation for their Year Eleven and Twelve studies. During the course of Year Ten students also develop their Senior Education and Training Plans as they orient and ready themselves for life beyond schooling.

A range of curricular and co-curricular activities, including Calvary Business Week, camps, musicals and films, sheep showing, sporting teams and opportunities, debating, Amnesty, music ensembles and worship team, provide diverse opportunities for students to explore their gifts and talents.
