REVIEW: Funky Monkey Bars - Bringing the fun to EVERY backyard + WIN your own!

13 November 2017

Do your kids love to climb?

What if you could have a playground in your own backyard?

When Aussie Dad, Shane's, young girls discovered the joy of climbing for themselves, he decided to make a monkey bar for their backyard. It proved to be so popular with the local kids that in 2011, he created Funky Monkey Bars. And now the award-winning monkey bars and swing sets are available nationally, delivering straight to backyards across the country.

As fans of outdoor play we put the rungs to the test, and our mini testers gave it a serious thumbs up.

The Lemur web

Designed to fit most backyards, the system is height adjustable to grow with your child. Starting at just 1.2m, perfect for the littlest climbers, it grows to 2.3m for the older ones. You can place the twirly bars in different positions and angles dependent on the shape of your yard. And as your child masters each stage, simply continue to add bars and accessories to create the ultimate playground!

Accessories include a flying fox, fireman’s pole, toddler swing, trapeze, cargo net, nest swing, and a netball hoop! There's plenty for the adults too, with dipbars, a netball hoop and spaces to hang punching bags.

The system comes in a range of colours: blue, green, yellow, red, orange, purple, grey and yellow. The steel monkey bar frame comes with a three-year warranty, the steel fittings have a life-time warranty, and the powder coating and swing attachments have a year warranty.

As a modular system, it’s pretty darn clever. But what we love most is the fun and active play that results, getting the kids off the screens and outdoors developing resilience, strength and agility. And if they begin to get bored of the layout, simply mix it up, add accessories, change the height… and off they go again!

Prices start form $990 for the Original set and go up to the $3,570 with the epic Mandrill set. SCROLL DOWN TO WIN ONE OF YOUR OWN SETS!

Ooh! I've entered! This would be so amazing for my kiddo who has ASD/SPD - proprioception dream! :) :) I'm crossing all available appendages! :) Good luck everyone - whoever wins, can we come play at your house? ;)

We live out of town, so would love to have our own set to play on, rather than missing out on going to the park all the time! Pretty awesome for my 10yo & 5yo girls who are starting gymnastics next year also, would be fab for them to practice on! And of course my 8yo boy is a standard boy - always climbing something ;-)

After a year of walking down to the park every day so my kids can do "ninja warrior" training on their monkey bars, I would love one of these in our backyard!

This would be perfect in our backyard for a daring climbing toddler and two budding dancers/gymnasts/contortionists!

My family would love to win this set for my 6 year old daughter who was born with Down syndrome. There have been studies to show that children with Down syndrome who use monkey bars, learn to use different parts of their brain, which would help my daughter in every aspect of her life including her physical exercise. Thank you for considering me
