From the 1st of January next year, parents who don’t immunise their children will no longer receive childcare benefits after the federal government’s no-jab-no-play law was passed in parliament this week. These changes come shortly after Queensland childcare centres are given the power to refuse enrolment to unvaccinated children from next year. Parents who choose not to immunise their children for non medical reasons will also no longer receive the Family Tax Benefit A end of year supplement.
The clock is ticking for Queensland pool owners with the 30 November deadline for new compliance pool safety laws rapidly approaching. From the 1st of December, local councils will be responsible for the new pool safety laws, which will replace 11 different standards - making it much easier for pool owners to ensure they are compliant. Pool safety advocate Laurie Lawrence, has joined forces with the Queensland Government to remind Queenslanders of the looming deadline saying “We can all have a lot of fun in swimming pools, but it’s important to respect the risks and do everything we can to protect our young kids.”
