Queensland's new $1.1 billion single children's hospital to be based in South Brisbane is a step closer with the first major stage of construction underway. On track to open progressively from 2011, the Queensland Children’s Hospital will increase the number of beds available to children, offer expanded and enhanced clinical services and provide a new 12-bed neo-natal intensive care unit.
The new hospital will be complemented by a dedicated $45.6 million children's emergency department on Brisbane's northside to be completed by 2012.
