A recent survey of 125 Australian families found playing a round of Monopoly or dominoes is not only fun, but provides a host of other family benefits including improved patience, concentration, teamwork, sharing, communication, sportsmanship, and critical thinking skills. Homebirths under threat

Home births could become illegal under proposed laws forcing midwives attending home births to be insured or face a hefty $30,000 fine. A recent protest by hundreds of women outside Parliament House, aptly called ‘The Mother of All Rallies’, went some way to solving the problem with Australia’s health ministers agreeing to a two-year fine exemption.

Parents sedating naughty kids with cannabis

Parents in Melbourne and Sydney are endangering the mental wellbeing of children as young as six by giving them cannabis as a sedative. Youth worker Les Twentyman said some parents think their own drugs could be a solution for behavioural problems. Mr Twentyman said more needed to be done to educate parents about the long-term dangers of giving drugs to children.
